How SECAP began and how we’ve grown with the digital world.

A New Millennium, A Changing World

1999 was a defining moment in technology. The world was preparing to enter a new millennium, and a surge of innovations signalled the beginning of a connected, data-driven era.

• TiVo introduced the world’s first DVR.

• Bluetooth released its 1.0 specification.

• The first BlackBerry reached consumers.

• VMware launched its inaugural software product.

• IBM unveiled the "Microdrive" the smallest hard drive ever built.

• David Bowie released "Hours" the first major album available for digital download.

• Humanity reached six billion people for the first time ever, a milestone that underscored how quickly the world was expanding and connecting.

Data was growing, connectivity was accelerating, and behind it all infrastructure was becoming the backbone of modern life.

 

Where SECAP Begins

Amid this transformation, on 28 July 1999, technology-infrastructure engineer Russell Cheney founded Systems Enhancement Corporation Asia Pacific (SECAP).

His mission was clear:
 

"Build reliable, intelligent, and scalable

power distribution solutions that support the

digital world as it evolves."

Australia needed a brand that understood the realities of on-the-ground deployments, the challenges inside data centres, telecom networks, industrial sites, and IT environments.

SECAP set out to fill that gap.

Growing With the Needs of Industry

From the beginning, SECAP brought together a highly skilled team of engineers, manufacturers, consultants, and channel partners all united by a belief in doing things properly, reliably, and with technical integrity.

Over the past two decades, this team has supported more than 10,000 deployments across Australia and around the world. Every project taught us something new.

Every environment shaped the products we design.

And every partner relationship helped refine the way we deliver value.
